And…we’re off!

Posted by: Scott In: Pre-Rally

After receiving the e-mail last week that I won a spot on the 2009 Mongol Rally I was ecstatic. I had had almost no hope of getting in, as all 300 of the available positions had been awarded in under two minutes of opening. I signed up for the waiting list and a week later came the acceptance e-mail.

I called up my friend Collin and asked if he was still down to go. There’s not too many people that have the time, money, and willingness to undertake an adventure of this sort, but luckily he’s one of them. Well, kind of. He’s going to kind of have to work on the money part a bit…definitely a lot of free time though!

Anyways, having paid the entrance fee of £650 (approx. $1,300.00US) last Thursday, we are officially in the running under the team name of ‘Hardly Working’! There’s going to be lots to do between now and the start of the rally on July 11th, 2009, but we’re up for it. Expect to see the entire process blogged about on this here very web site, in mind-numbing detail.

Stay tuned…

In the summer of 2009, two guys from Metro Detroit traveled 10,000 miles from London to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in an effort to raise money to assist underprivileged Mongolian families in becoming self-sufficient.
