Well, if you go through Northern Mongolia you kind of miss seeing the best part of Mongolia! Sure, you can see some cool stuff in Siberia (such as Lake Baikal), but I want to see more of Mongolia.

Mike: Most people just go straight through Slovakia and Hungary to Romania but I’d like to visit Vienna for a day if at all possible. After the Czech Republic checkpoint we’re on our own until Mongolia, so we can take our time and stop to see the sights.

Scott; why the unusual swing through the Czech Republic between Munich and Vienna? Can’t you go straight to Vienna? Is it on purpose?

It’s looking like it’s going to be less than the 10,000 planned…although we might get to that point with a bit of post-rally travel.

Per Google Maps it looks to be around 7,500 miles…but that’s very imprecise. If I had to guess I’d say that it’s going to be closer to 8,000 miles total.
